However, weddings in B-town of late have been grabbing the limelight for altogether different reasons. Celebrities like Katrina Kaif, Rajkummar Rao, Anushka Sharma and others, while following their traditions and customs, made sure they broke some age-old stereotypes and led others in the same direction.

While Katrina Kaif kept her royal wedding an extremely private affair, a picture from her wedding celebrations, shared by her, gave us a glimpse into her bridal entry. In the photo, Katrina is seen making her way to the mandap under a floral blanket held up by her lovely sisters. As per our customs, we only see brothers carrying Phoolon ki Chaadar as the bride makes an entry.

Sharing the picture, she wrote, ‘Growing up, we sisters always protected each other. They are my pillars of strength and we keep each other grounded… May it always stay that way.’

Dia Mirza not only surprised one and all by getting married but also by appointing a female priest to conduct the rituals and solemnize the wedding. This was definitely something new for our society. The actress also revealed in one of her posts that they said no to the age-old tradition of Kanyadaan and Bidaai too.
